The water meadows de Hondsbroeksche Pleij, are situated approximately 55 yards from our B&B. This is a wonderful area in which you can go for a relaxing walk or bike ride. To close of the day, it is worth taking the short walk to Ijsselkop to watch the sunset. We enjoy it every day!
The bicycle-only dykes offer plenty of possibilities to cycle in de Liemers. Many nice bicycle dikes and, for example, lunch in the Oude Rijn pumping station. Or a little further the Millinger Tea Garden. It is also possible to go for a swim in the nearby area, for example in the Rhine within walking distance or in the recreation area de Rhederlaag.
Furthermore, there are some nice villages and towns close by, such as Huissen with its lively marketplace and shopping street; Doornenburg with its castle and fort and Doesburg with its historic city centre.
National park De Hoge Veluwe where the Kröller-Müller Museum is situated, and Montferland that has beautiful woods and water meadows nearby Oosterbeek and Meinerswijk are just a stone’s throw away.
Furthermore, it takes only 15 minutes by bicycle to reach the city life that Arnhem has to offer. Here you can enjoy the modern shopping areas and the abundance of art and culture that the city offers, for example, the Eusebius Church, park Sonsbeek that has plenty of exhibitions and the Museum of Modern Art. Furthermore, there is Burgers Zoo, the Open Air Museum and the Gelredome.
Westervoort and surroundings offer some good restaurants all within cycle distance. These are our favourites:
